Did you know that the UHS College and Career Counseling Center (CCCC) is a UHS parent supported initiative that is funded through UHS parent and business donations?
The UHS Parents’ Association provides funding for an essential staff member in the College and Career Counseling Center. Ms. Lori Minor works with our students and parents in a variety of areas including college applications, scholarship essays, DBQs, FRQs, test taking skills, note taking skills, PSAT, SAT and ACT preparation, and running student study groups. Here is what a former UHS student had to say about working with Ms. Minor:
“As a senior, I find Ms. Minor has been a priceless asset for editing college application and scholarship essays. At UHS, students strive for excellence, and Ms. Minor’s adept skill and experience in college administration and creative essay writing enable us to achieve our full potential. Additionally, she is a much needed addition to the beloved counseling and student support team for all grade levels.”
– Rachel Done, UHS Class of 2015, Current Student at Yale University
The MARCH is on to ensure our students get to continue to benefit from the work of the CCCC and its writing coach, Lori Minor.
Did you know that since the writing coach position was created, scholarship awards offered to UHS students have risen to $35 million, the most in the state for any high school, and college admissions have increased by over 100 colleges and universities!
The hard truth is that without the support of UHS families (and business community if possible), we will be unable to continue to provide this valuable resource. A bit over $10,000 has been raised thus far. The full $60,000 payment to cover the writing coach position is due in early May… so time is of the essence.
Some families have contributed. Thank you!
Now we need the rest to join the MARCH!
